Repeat-Sprint Games

Athletic Development · U14–U19

Obj: Conditioning disguised as football — repeat-sprint ability built inside games: the engine trained without a single lap (7.4's principle; E-23's method generalized). Field: Game grids per the format. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: The conditioning-game menu, rotated: wave-pressing shifts (E-23's structure — the flagship), full-field transition wars' bursts (F-20's rhythms), 1v1 flying-change ladders (A-17 at sprint density), counter-relay finishing (G-12's cycles teamed) — each format's work:rest engineered to repeat-sprint prescriptions (short maximal bursts, incomplete-but-real recoveries, football decisions attached to every sprint: the dual-credit design — the legs and the game trained in the same minutes). Load tracked (14.7's calendar — these are the week's high-intensity dose, placed deliberately, never stacked on match congestion). CP: (1) Maximal means maximal (the game formats hide the conditioning ONLY if the sprints are real — E-23's 70%-is-0% law); (2) recovery behaviors coached (walk tall, breathe deep, re-engage — recovering IS a skill); (3) the placement is the professionalism (Tuesday's dose, never Friday's — the calendar rule players learn to expect). Prog: Shift lengths per the season's periodization (Section 6); format variety maintained (staleness kills intensity). Reg: Formats shortened; overloads eased. Mist: C: laps nostalgia ("they need a good run" — the games outwork the laps AND train decisions; the data wins this argument, share it); stacking doses in congested weeks (14.7 governs, always). Time: 15 min 1×/week in-season (placed per calendar). Out: Repeat-sprint data climbing (J-14's tests); the engine built in football clothes; zero laps run. Var: Position-flavored formats (fullback overlap-repeat games; the 9's press-and-pin shifts — 10.x's demands conditioned specifically). Diag: Wave-game grid with sprint-burst arrows and recovery-walk loops timed, the weekly-calendar chip marking the dose's placement.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
