Shot-Stopping Under Traffic

Goalkeeping · U13–U19

Obj: Saves through bodies — sightlines fought for, late information managed, and the box's crowd survived: match shots, not clean shots. Field: Box + edge. Equip: Goal, balls, mannequins + live bodies, bibs. Org: Escalating traffic: mannequin forests (shots arriving through gaps — the keeper's micro-repositioning for sightlines: the half-step that sees, I-05's geometry in crowds); live screens (attackers legally shading vision, G-18's dark-ish art from the victim's side — fought with feet, never fouls); deflection realism (shots clipped by traffic on route — I-04's tree at zero notice); the crowded set-piece picture (H-03's box from the gloves: claim-or-save reads with bodies everywhere). CP: (1) Fight for the sightline EARLY (see the strike's birth or react to its middle — the half-steps before beat the full dive after); (2) set low and forward in traffic (close-range bias, I-11's stance); (3) when information arrives late, save BIG (block-shape over guess-dive — surface area is the honest answer to the unseen). Prog: Traffic denser; screens hostile (legal contact); second phases live (H-13's chaos attached). Reg: Mannequins only; gaps generous. Mist: P: peeking around traffic into deep sets (the sightline fight is footwork, not leaning); C: clean-shot diets all season (Saturday's box is a forest — train in forests). Time: 14 min. Out: Sightline habits; traffic saves normalized; late-info block-saves banked. Var: Wet-day traffic (the spill-and-scramble festival — I-16 and E-22 arrive together). Diag: Box with mannequin forest, the keeper's half-step sightline adjustments marked, a screened striker, block-shape save at late sight, claim-read inset.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
