Restart Transition Traps

Set Pieces & Restarts · U15–U19

Obj: Pressing from opponent restarts — their throws, free kicks, and goal kicks as our ambush points: the trap book's dead-ball chapter (E-12's doors at restarts; the possession game's cheapest steals). Field: Varied restart zones, full half. Equip: Balls, cones, bibs, goals. Org: The restart-trap menu installed: THEIR THROWS (the touchline's natural trap — our marks deny the easy options, invite the pressured one, slam the reception: E-08's cage pre-built by the touchline and the throw's awkwardness — the game's highest-percentage trap, drilled to reflex); THEIR FREE KICKS (the quick-restart denial — our nearest player's positioning legally delays their H-09 while our shape re-forms: the dark art's legal edge, taught precisely); THEIR GOAL KICKS (H-05's press half, expanded — seal, lock, trap wide). Steal-to-strike chains attached (every trapped restart converts through F-12's raid window — steals near their goal are gold, the trap book's whole point). CP: (1) Restarts reset THEIR shape too — the ambusher's advantage is knowing what happens next (their restart patterns scouted, H-12's data); (2) throw-traps close AS the ball travels (the airborne second is the trap's springing time); (3) legal delay is craft, fouling is cost (the edge walked, named, refereed in training — 2.12's referee-respect intact). Prog: Scout-specific restart traps (their throw habits from film); trap-vs-quick wars (their H-09 culture vs. our denial — the meta-game live). Reg: Throw-traps only; passive restarts. Mist: P: trap enthusiasm becoming foul trouble (the cost ledger displayed — cards concede more than traps steal); C: training our restarts without defending theirs (the category's symmetry law, everywhere). Time: 12 min biweekly. Out: Restart steals climbing (tracked); throw-ins against becoming our possessions; the legal-delay craft owned cleanly. Var: Kickoff-press integration (H-11's receiving shape as the book's first page). Diag: Their throw-in with our marks denying short options, the invited pressured throw, the slam converging at reception, steal-to-raid arrow launching at their unset shape.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
