The Finisher's Mind

Finishing & Final Third · U14–U19

Obj: Pressure finishing with consequence — the psychology block: routines, resets, and reps where misses cost something, so Saturday's big chance meets a trained mind (7.5's confidence and resilience strands, given a goal-mouth). Field: Box + service, goal + GK. Equip: Goal, balls, cones, consequence props (none needed beyond the format). Org: Finishing formats with designed pressure layers, escalating: (1) AUDIENCE reps (the group watches each finisher's set of three — performance in silence, the simplest pressure there is); (2) CONSEQUENCE rounds (team scores tied to named finishers' reps — your miss costs the group a point: the weight of others, introduced in training's safety); (3) RESET training (a designed miss — the coach calls "miss" on a good strike occasionally — then the next rep INSTANTLY: the 10-second reset routine performed, breath-eyes-cue, 7.5's mechanism drilled at its exact moment of need); (4) CLUTCH finales (session-ending single reps: one ball, one chance, the session's competitive result riding on it — the big-chance temperament rehearsed monthly, never weekly; scarcity keeps it honest). CP: (1) Routine beats mood: the same breath, the same cue words, every rep (the routine IS the composure — build yours, own yours); (2) the miss is information plus ten seconds of feeling, then NEXT (the reset performed, not described); (3) pressure shrinks technique's margins — so the technique must be over-learned first (G-1 through G-26 are this session's prerequisites, in that order). Prog: Stakes personalized per IDP (the player working on big-chance temperament gets the clutch finales — 7.7's targeting); GK psychology parallel (I-23's penalty-mind twin). Reg: Audience-only layers; consequence rounds team-voted in (consent matters — pressure imposed without buy-in is just stress). Mist: P: avoiding the finisher's role in consequence rounds (the avoidance IS the data — coached privately, kindly, 7.5's resilience log); C: manufacturing pressure through anger (the session trains composure under stakes, not fear of coaches — the distinction is everything, 1.3). Time: 14 min (biweekly; clutch finales monthly). Out: Pre-shot routines owned per player; reset speed measured (how fast is the next rep normal?); big-chance data (8.7) trending with the temperament work. Var: Shootout theater (full penalty-shootout simulation with the roster watching — H-10's protocol rehearsed with the mind's curriculum attached). Diag: Finisher at the spot of a chance with the routine icons (breath, eyes, cue word), the audience line watching, a consequence scoreboard, and the reset loop arrow from a miss to the next rep in 10 seconds.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
