Wide-Overload Finishing

Finishing & Final Third · U13–U19

Obj: 3v2 wide-to-finish patterns — the overload's endgame: combining through the wide numbers into deliveries and arrivals, the C-10 isolation's sibling where we finish WITH the numbers instead (2.1.5 completing). Field: Wide half of the final third + box, goal + GK. Equip: Goal, balls, cones, bibs. Org: Wide 3v2s (winger + fullback + 8 vs. two defenders) worked to entries: the overload's menu — overlap release (D-07/B-07's decision at the death), the third-man slide behind the two (B-31 in the channel), the up-back-and-wide switch of the point when the two defend well (patience's exit, D-16's wisdom applied high). Every solved overload ends in delivery + G-09 arrivals (the box population arriving from the weak side as the wide three combine — whole-picture reps). Defenders rotate and are coached too (E-16's 2v3 delay curriculum simultaneously — the session feeds both books). CP: (1) 3v2 solves by making the two defend TWO problems at once (width AND depth in the channel — stagger or die); (2) the extra man is the DELIVERY man when he arrives beyond (byline access without the duel, G-13's shortcut); (3) weak-side arrivals trust the solve (run BEFORE the delivery exists — G-09's timing faith). Prog: Recovering third defender (the window shrinks — solve faster); entry-type constraints per round (cutbacks only, early-low only — G-14/G-15 targeted). Reg: 3v1; pattern walk-throughs. Mist: P: the overload passing itself to death without entering (the entry is the point — count entries per possession); C: neglecting the weak-side arrivals while coaching the wide three (the goal-scorers are off-camera — watch them). Time: 16 min. Out: Wide overloads converting to entries at rate; both curricula (attack and delay) fed. Var: Transition starts (F-15's release becoming a 3v2 — the counter's wide endgame). Diag: Wide channel 3v2 with staggered attacking triangle, overlap release beyond the two, delivery launched, weak-side arrivals crossing into the box's spots.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
