Finishing Under Fatigue

Finishing & Final Third · U14–U19

Obj: The technical floor when gassed — finishing quality at the end of sprints: minute-85 goals are trained, not hoped for (4.14's benchmark made a session). Field: 40×25yd with a work-loop + finishing zone, goal + GK. Equip: Goal, balls, cones. Org: Repeating cycle: work bout (an 8-second shuttle/sprint-loop — honest intensity, J-10's game-speed conditioning), then IMMEDIATELY a finishing rep from rotating serves (G-07's menu) — strike while the legs burn and the lungs argue. Sets of 6 cycles; quality tracked per cycle (the DATA is the session: everyone watches their own floor — where does MY technique break, and does that point move rightward across weeks?). CP: (1) Fatigue attacks the plant foot and the head position first — consciously reset both before striking (the checklist survives when the freshness doesn't); (2) breathe on the approach (one hard exhale steadies the strike — sports-psych's reset routine, 7.5, in its most physical form); (3) placement over power when gassed (tired power sprays; tired placement scores — G-04's choice with fatigue's thumb on the scale). Prog: Work bouts lengthen; decision layers added post-sprint (G-04 choices while gassed — the full match simulation); defenders chase the finisher. Reg: Shorter bouts, longer recovery, bigger targets. Mist: P: pacing the work bout to protect the finish (defeats everything — the bout is maximal or the data lies); C: running this early in sessions (it lives LAST, where fatigue is real, 5.1's structure respected). Time: 12 min, session's end. Out: Each player's fatigue-floor mapped and moving; late-game finishing belief built on evidence. Var: Team version (relay format, collective totals — the shared suffering bonds, 7.6). Diag: Work loop with sprint arrows feeding directly into a finishing rep, fatigue meter icon, per-cycle quality tally showing the floor.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
