Weak-Foot Wednesdays

Finishing & Final Third · U10–U19

Obj: The weak-foot-only finishing block — the standing weekly appointment where the other foot becomes a tool (7.2's weak-foot strand, given its ritual). Field: 25×20yd to goal + GK. Equip: Goal, balls, cones. Org: Every finishing format the group knows (G-02 circuits, G-07 waves, G-03 1v1s — rotating weekly), run entirely weak-footed. Scoring celebrates attempts AND quality: any weak-foot goal = 2; a weak-foot goal the coach judges "indistinguishable" (would you have known?) = 3 (the standard named: not usable — invisible). Monthly, the session's totals log to the weak-foot data (8.7's match-share metric fed by training's ledger). CP: (1) Full swings only — the 40% weak-foot poke trains hesitation (A-30's law); (2) same technique checklist as the strong foot (plant, ankle, follow) — the foot is different, the physics aren't; (3) misses are deposits (the courage economy: attempts compound, 1.3's mistake culture in its purest form). Prog: Weak-foot-only extends backward into the build (whole possessions left-footed for righties — U15+ ambition); pressure defenders added. Reg: Bigger goals, closer range, no GK. Mist: P: strong-foot rescues at the last instant (called with humor, counted honestly); C: scheduling this "when there's time" (it's Wednesday — the name is the calendar, the calendar is the culture). Time: 12 min weekly, permanent. Out: Weak-foot attempt volume massive and rising; match weak-foot share (U14+ tracked) climbing season over season. Var: Weak-foot week (Section 6's Wk 24–25 expands this to everything). Diag: Goal with a left-foot strike from a right-footer, checklist icons matching the strong-foot's (plant/ankle/follow), attempt-counter tally emphasized over the score.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
