Crossing Clinic Foundations

Finishing & Final Third · U11–U14

Obj: Delivery technique catalog founded — the driven, the floated, the cutback: three deliveries, three purposes, taught as vocabulary before B-38 makes them craft. Field: Wide channels + box, goal + GK. Equip: Goal, balls, cones, mannequins. Org: Three delivery stations rotating: (1) DRIVEN (low and hard across the six — "a shot on goal that a teammate redirects"); (2) FLOATED (to the far-post zone, hang-time for arriving headers/volleys — the only high cross we teach, and only to the back stick); (3) CUTBACK (the club's favorite, pulled to the spot/top — G-14's feeder). Simple arrival runs attack each (near for driven, far for floated, spot for cutbacks — G-09's spots pre-linked). CP: (1) Each delivery has ONE address — say it before you strike ("driven-near!"); (2) crossing off the correct foot per side keeps the ball wrapping AWAY from the GK; (3) beat the first defender's feet — a blocked cross is a counter conceded (F-10's warning). Prog: Live fullback pressure (deliver past a real body); arrival timing scored with delivery (pairs graded — B-38's law). Reg: Stationary deliveries; no GK. Mist: P: the aimless high floater to nobody (banned by vocabulary — every cross must answer "which delivery?"); C: crossing sessions without arrivals (half a skill, forever). Time: 15 min. Out: Three deliveries named and addressed; the hopeful floater extinct. Var: Weak-foot crossing rounds early (both-footed wide players are made at U12, not U17). Diag: Wide channel with three delivery trajectories labeled (driven flat, floated to back stick, cutback pulled), arrival runs matched to each, first defender's block zone avoided.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
