Placement vs. Power

Finishing & Final Third · U10–U14

Obj: The finisher's first decision — corners passed into vs. power driven through: when each wins, trained by target zones. Field: 25×20yd to a full goal + GK. Equip: Goal, balls, cones, corner-zone targets (cones/sheets in the four corners). Org: Serve variety (rolled, bounced, cutback-angle); finish rounds alternate: PLACEMENT rounds score only corner-zone finishes (the pass-into-the-net stroke — inside-foot, low, across); POWER rounds score any goal but must be laces-driven (G-01's strike, matured). Round 3 FREE: the finisher chooses per rep and explains one choice aloud per rotation ("he was set, so I placed it wide"). CP: (1) GK set = placement (corners beat reactions); GK moving/unset = power through him (speed beats repositioning); (2) low beats high at every age (the stats are eternal — bounce and skid trouble everyone); (3) across the GK to the far corner is the game's highest-percentage stroke (G-05's faith). Prog: Defender pressure on the strike; one-touch only. Reg: No GK (zones only); slower serves. Mist: P: power as the default emotional setting (the choice IS the skill); C: never asking for the explanation (the verbalized read is the transfer). Time: 15 min. Out: Choice-matched finishing; corner-zone accuracy climbing. Var: GK-informed rounds (keeper announces set/unset pre-serve — the read made visible, then hidden again). Diag: Goal with corner target zones, two finish arrows contrasted: placed low-far vs. driven through the near, GK-state icons (set/unset) beside each.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
