The Escape Sprint

Transitions · U12–U16

Obj: The beaten-press recovery structure — when our counter-press fails: the collective sprint home, the delay assignments, and the block re-formed before their attack lands (2.5.4's choreography). Field: 60×40yd, goal + GK at the defended end. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: Scripted failures: our 7 lose the ball attacking, counter-press for the honest six (F-04), and the coach's "GONE!" call marks the escape — from that instant the choreography runs: nearest player DELAYS the carrier (E-06's angles, buying the seconds), everyone else sprints PAST the ball line before turning (E-13's law), the block re-forms at the coach-marked line and the delay-player retreats into it last. Attackers score against broken shapes = 2; defenses re-formed before the attack's third pass = 2 for us (the race made explicit: their passes vs. our sprints). CP: (1) "GONE!" flips every job in half a second — the call's speed is the recovery's speed (one voice, instantly obeyed, argued never); (2) the delayer is a hero role: he sacrifices his recovery to buy everyone else's (rotate it, honor it); (3) sprint FIRST, organize SECOND — shape talk happens behind the ball, never while jogging toward it. Prog: Unscripted (real presses genuinely beaten — the call read from play); GK's voice owns "GONE!" (I-15's command growing). Reg: Walk-through choreography; attackers delayed 3 seconds. Mist: P: half the team still pressing after "GONE!" (the two-mode disease — E-26's mode discipline junior version); C: only training successful presses (failure choreography is used 20 times a match). Time: 14 min. Out: Escape recognition and instant mode-flip; delay-plus-sprint structure; block re-formation timed and improving. Var: Count the race aloud (their passes vs. our re-formed shape — the metric kids adopt as a game). Diag: Failed press moment with "GONE!" call bubble, one delayer angling the carrier, five sprint arrows past the ball line curving goal-side, block re-forming at the marked line.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
