Halfway Heists

Transitions · U13–U19

Obj: Midfield regains converted to 10-second raids — the heist: steal high, strike fast, before their shape remembers itself. Field: Full 60–70yd field, goals + GKs. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: 8v8 with a marked "heist zone" (the middle 20 yards). Normal play, but regains INSIDE the heist zone open a 10-second raid window (counted by the bench group, loudly): goals inside it = 3 pts; goals outside any window = 1. The design truth: midfield steals catch defenses at their most stretched (their build committed, their rest defense thin) — the zone's geography IS the lesson (why our press schemes herd play there, E-08/E-12's payoff visualized). CP: (1) Heist-zone regains mean their back line is ALREADY exposed — first thought: who's behind it? (the F-11 glance with maximum reward); (2) raid with the nearest three, arriving in lanes (F-05 compressed — no time for the fourth); (3) the 10-count disciplines the raid: no window goals from slow build-ups pretending to be counters (the count keeps everyone honest about what a heist is). Prog: Heist zone shrinks (steals must be higher-quality); raids must include one vertical pass (no solo-dribble heists — teams rob banks, individuals get caught). Reg: 12-second windows; zone widened. Mist: P: regaining in the zone then U-turning by habit (D-16's wisdom has a counter-case — the zone's regains are the exception where forward is nearly always right); C: not connecting this to the pressing curriculum (the heist is WHY we herd — say it every session). Time: 16 min. Out: Midfield-regain urgency; 10-second raids as identity; press-to-punishment logic closed. Var: Heist-only scoring rounds (all other goals void — the appetite sharpened). Diag: Field with the shaded halfway heist zone, a steal inside it, three raid arrows launching at the exposed back line, 10-second count badge, their stranded build shape behind the steal.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
