Lane-Fill Counters

Transitions · U12–U19

Obj: Counter-attacking with lane discipline — three-lane filling at sprint speed: the break organized without slowing it. Field: 60×40yd, three lanes marked, full goal + GK. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs, goal. Org: Counter waves: 3 (then 4) attackers break from a regain against 2 recovering defenders. The law: three lanes filled within the first 10 yards — carrier central (or driving the widest open lane), teammates sprinting to EMPTY lanes, never doubling one (the doubled lane is the defender's gift). Fourth attacker (when added) trails for the cutback/second wave. Goals = 1; goals with all lanes verifiably filled = 3 (the discipline paid). CP: (1) Fill lanes at SPRINT — organized and slow is a failed counter (2.6.2); (2) the carrier attacks the retreating line's middle: committing one defender opens two lanes; (3) wide runners bend runs to stay onside and arrive facing the goal, not the touchline. Prog: +1 recovering defender chasing (E-13's mirror — beat the recovery); finishing menu constraints (first-time only from cutbacks). Reg: No defenders (pattern speed first); jog-through installs. Mist: P: two runners in the carrier's lane ball-watching; C: coaching the pattern at three-quarter speed (the discipline must survive full sprint or it doesn't exist). Time: 15 min. Out: Lane-filled breaks at speed; carrier's commit-one-open-two reads. Var: Start from a real regain in a rondo (B-35's wins release into this — regain-to-break chained). Diag: Three lanes with carrier central, two sprint arrows filling outside lanes, trailing runner behind, two recovering defenders converging on the middle.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
