Countdown Regains

Transitions · U11–U14

Obj: The six-second rule internalized — from coach's count to silent clock: regain windows trained until the timing lives in the players. Field: 30×25yd. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: 6v6 possession. On every turnover, the regain window opens: coach counts aloud in round 1, claps only in round 2, silence in round 3 (players must FEEL six seconds — tested by asking "in or out?" after close regains; their answers calibrate the internal clock). Regains inside = 2 pts; after the window, defenders must instead sprint behind the ball line (the F-04 fork: swarm or home, nothing between). CP: (1) The window opens at the LOSS, not at your readiness; (2) swarm roles instantly: nearest two on ball and outlet, others cut lanes; (3) when the window shuts, the sprint home is equally sacred — half-measures are the only wrong answer. Prog: Window shrinks to 5s (elite groups); regains must convert to 3 completed passes (secure the win). Reg: 8-second windows; coach counts throughout. Mist: P: swarming past the window into scattered chaos; C: never testing the silent clock (the internalization IS the session). Time: 14 min. Out: Accurate internal six-counts; clean swarm-or-home forks. Var: GK-inclusive (build-out losses = the highest-stakes windows, D-05 merge). Diag: Possession web with loss moment, six-second window arc, swarm arrows inside it, sprint-home arrows after it closes.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
