Press-Resistant No More

Pressing & Defending · U13–U19

Obj: Pressing technical players — the angles, timing, and double-team craft that break press-resistant opponents (because Saturday has a version of our own 6). Field: 25×20yd. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: One designated "resistant" attacker (our best presser-breaker — his A-35/B-20 skills become the training equipment) + 3 support players keep the ball vs. 3 pressers whose curriculum is HIM: never square to his strong side, press his blind shoulder on his first touch, arrive as the ball does (not after), and double with a sealed exit (one presses, one takes his escape lane — not both on the ball). Wins off the resistant player = 3 pts; off others = 1. CP: (1) Technical players die on their first touch or not at all — arrive AT the reception; (2) press the blind shoulder: he can't play what he can't see; (3) doubles seal, not swarm: the second presser takes the escape route, arriving at an angle. Prog: The resistant player gets a bounce option (harder); pressers must channel him toward the trap side (E-12 merge). Reg: Resistant player two-touch limited; 4v3 press advantage. Mist: P: standing off respecting his reputation (respect is distance, distance is death — press him MORE); C: using a weak attacker as the target (the equipment must be real). Time: 14 min. Out: Reception-moment pressing; blind-shoulder angles; sealing doubles. Var: GK-pressing version (the modern keeper as the resistant player — pressing HIM is its own craft). Diag: Resistant player receiving with presser arriving at the reception on his blind shoulder, second presser sealing the escape lane at an angle, exit routes crossed out.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
