Third-CB Drop Builds

Build-Out & Progression · U15–U19

Obj: Situational back-three morphs — the 6 or a fullback dropping to create 3-v-2 build superiority against two-striker presses, and the cascade of rotations it triggers. Field: Half field, full width. Equip: Goal, cones, balls, bibs. Org: GK + back four + double pivot vs. 6 pressers in a 2-4 (two strikers sealing the CBs — the picture that demands the morph). Two morphs alternate by round: Morph A — the 6 drops between the CBs (salida lavolpiana), fullbacks push to wing heights, the other pivot owns the middle alone; Morph B — the weak-side fullback tucks to third-CB while the strong-side pushes (asymmetric three). Progressions past the press's midfield line score; the CASCADE is graded too — every morph vacates a slot someone must inherit (called and filled, C-34's insurance logic). CP: (1) Morph on the trigger, not by schedule: two strikers pressing two CBs = drop NOW; one striker = no morph needed (don't solve problems you don't have); (2) the dropper arrives FACING play (arriving blind wastes the morph); (3) after the morph: the free fullback is usually the exit — find him before their press re-shapes. Prog: Press varies (sometimes one striker — testing morph restraint); both morphs live, players choose. Reg: Announced morphs; 5 pressers. Mist: P: morphing against every press because it feels sophisticated (restraint is the advanced skill); C: ignoring the cascade (uninherited slots are how morphs concede counters). Time: 16 min. Out: Trigger-based morphing; cascade communication; anti-4-4-2 build competence. Var: In-match morph calls from the GK (I-24's organizer authority). Diag: Two-panel: Morph A with the 6 dropping between split CBs and fullbacks rising; Morph B with weak-side fullback tucking; cascade arrows filling vacated slots in both.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
