Obj: Releasing the 8 into pockets — the advanced interior's license: when the 8 abandons structure to hunt between-lines space, and what the team does to insure it. Field: 45×35yd. Equip: Cones, ball, bibs, contrasting pinny for the Free-8. Org: 8v8; each team designates a Free-8 (rotating every 4 min) exempt from all structural rules — he may roam any zone hunting pockets. But insurance is law: when the Free-8 vacates the midfield, a teammate MUST fill his structural slot within 3 seconds (called: "covered!") or any goal is void. Free-8 receptions between lines leading to a chance = 3 pts. The game teaches both the license and its price — freedom is a team purchase (10.6's freedom-with-responsibility contract, live). CP: (1) Free-8: hunt where their block's seams breathe — arrive late, half-turned, violent in intention (C-05's arrivals at full license); (2) the cover call is sacred — freedom uninsured is just absence; (3) teammates: play the Free-8 EARLY when he shows — late passes waste the best runs (B-28's chemistry at the elite end). Prog: Both Free-8s live simultaneously (chaos reading); defense assigns a tracker (the escape-your-shadow game, B-20's graduation). Reg: Free-8 roams only the attacking half; cover window 5 seconds. Mist: P: Free-8 drifting without hunting (roaming is not wandering — pocket-hunger graded); C: giving the license only to the obvious candidate (the quiet kid's 4 minutes as Free-8 is diagnostic gold). Time: 16 min. Out: Pocket-hunting with insurance; cover-fill reflexes; 10.5/10.6 aptitude data per player. Var: Free-6 version (the deep-lying playmaker license — different pockets, same contract). Diag: Rectangle with structured 7 players, Free-8 in contrasting pinny arriving in a between-lines pocket, teammate's cover arrow filling his vacated slot, "covered!" call marked.
