Positional & Possession Games · U11–U14

Obj: Flipping superiority — the same players experience 7v5 dominance and 5v7 survival in alternating waves, learning both mentalities. Field: 30×25yd. Equip: Cones, ball, bibs. Org: Teams of 7 and 5, roles flip every 3 min. The 7 score by 10-pass sequences or end-line receptions (their lesson: use the spare men — patience, width, third man). The 5 score any time they win it and complete 4 passes (their lesson: compact block, smart pressing moments, treasure every possession). Both scores tracked across the flips — a team must win BOTH halves of its existence. CP (at 7): (1) Two spare men means two free men — find the second one, defenses find the first; (2) stretch them wide and deep before playing through. CP (at 5): (3) press on triggers only (bad touch, back-pass) — five chasing seven is suicide; block, wait, pounce. Prog: 7v5 becomes 6v5 late in rounds (spare-man math shrinks — adapt); the 5 get a counter-goal (direction sharpens their winning moments). Reg: 8v4 (starker contrast for younger groups). Mist: P: the 5 pressing constantly out of pride (teach the block's dignity — E-09's seed); C: praising only the 7's play (the 5's discipline is half the session). Time: 16 min. Out: Both superiority mentalities in every player; trigger-pressing seeds planted. Var: Staggered flips (one player crosses at a time — gradual math shifts, C-16's cousin). Diag: Rectangle split-screen: left shows 7 stretching 5 with width arrows; right shows 5 in a compact block with one pounce arrow on a bad touch.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
