Rotation Stations

Positional & Possession Games · U12–U16

Obj: Midfield rotation patterns live — the 6/8/10 triangle's interchange without losing structure (the balance between fluidity and chaos). Field: 30×25yd with three midfield stations marked in a triangle. Equip: Cones, ball, bibs, station discs. Org: 6v4: three midfielders occupy the triangle stations + 2 servers + 1 target vs. 4 pressers. The rule: all three stations must ALWAYS be occupied, but never by the same player for more than 8 seconds — perpetual rotation with structural integrity. Ball circulates server→midfield→target; each successful progression through a freshly rotated station = 2 pts (rotation must serve the ball, not just the rule). CP: (1) Rotate INTO space the presser just left, not into your teammate's spot before he's gone (the timing conversation — call it); (2) the deep station is never empty: someone arrives before the current occupant leaves (safety first, 2.5.3's logic); (3) rotations drag markers — if your presser follows you, you've opened the station for a teammate: that was the point. Prog: Pressers man-mark the stations (rotations now genuinely break marking); 3v3 midfield battle inside. Reg: 10-second station clocks; two stations. Mist: P: rotating for rotation's sake with the ball nowhere near (purposeless motion is noise); C: not requiring the calls ("in!" "gone!") — silent rotations collide. Time: 15 min. Out: Structured interchange; marker-dragging understood as creation. Var: Full 4-3-3 midfield version inside C-08's zone game (U15+). Diag: Triangle of stations with three players mid-rotation, arrows showing the cycle, presser dragged by one rotation leaving a station shaded "open."

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
