Two-Goal Split Game

Positional & Possession Games · U11–U15

Obj: Switch-decision possession — two goals to attack means the defense can never be right; read which is open. Field: 35×25yd; two small goals on the SAME end line, 15yd apart, plus counter-goal opposite. Equip: Pug goals ×3, cones, ball, bibs. Org: 6v6: attackers score in either of the twin goals; defenders in the single counter-goal. The twin goals force the defense to split or concede one side — attackers circulate until the weak goal shows, then strike. A goal scored within 3 passes of a switch = double. CP: (1) Attack one goal to open the other — commitment creates the switch; (2) the far-side players' readiness decides whether the switch scores (arrive as it travels); (3) defense reading: when they overload one goal, don't fight the crowd — change the point. Prog: Goals move wider apart (bigger switch demands); offside line for twin-goal attacks. Reg: 6v4; three goals. Mist: P: forcing the crowded goal repeatedly (ask "which goal had no defenders?"); C: not tracking switch-then-score sequences (the double rule needs enforcing). Time: 16 min. Out: Overload-then-switch rhythm; far-side readiness habits. Var: Goals on both end lines (four total — maximum scanning, U13+). Diag: Rectangle with twin goals on one end, defense crowded at one, switch arrow to far goal with arriving runner.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
