Cross-Field Cannons

Passing, Receiving & Rondos · U13–U19

Obj: Switch-of-play technique at full distance — the driven diagonal that changes games (2.1.6's delivery mechanism). Field: 50×40yd. Equip: Balls, cones, 8×8yd receiving boxes wide. Org: Two groups at opposite wide positions ~40yd apart diagonally. Rhythm: receive-prepare-strike — a settle touch out of the feet, then the driven or clipped diagonal into the far box where a receiver takes it out of the air/first bounce and returns fire the other diagonal. Points: flighted into the box + controlled by the receiver = 2 (the pass AND the touch score together — teammates, not soloists). CP: (1) Preparation touch at 45° out of the feet — the strike needs a runway; (2) drive when the wind/line is low, clip when a defender-line must be cleared (call your choice); (3) receiver: feet moving early, attack the drop point (A-28 live). Prog: One-touch preparation off a fed ball; a passive presser forces the switch under time; box shrinks. Reg: Distance to 30yd; bounce allowed before control. Mist: P: hitting from a dead ball stance (matches never offer one); C: ignoring the receiving half of every rep. Time: 14 min. Out: Honest switch range logged per player (feeds 7.2); flight choice verbalized. Var: Fullback-to-winger channel version along real touchlines (positional realism, 10.3/10.7). Diag: Large field with two wide boxes, diagonal flight arcs crossing, preparation-touch icon before each strike.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
