Pivot's Playground

Passing, Receiving & Rondos · U12–U19

Obj: The 6's receiving life: finding windows beside pressers, playing through cover shadows, escaping the trap (10.4 companion). Field: 20×20yd; central 8×8yd "playground." Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: Two servers (as CBs) below, two targets (as 8/10s) above, pivot in the playground with one live presser shadowing him. Ball circulates CB-to-CB until the pivot escapes the cover shadow and shows in a window; receive → turn or bounce → find a target = 2 pts; if truly locked, the pivot's "third-man call" (CB direct to target while the pivot drags the presser away) = 1 pt — being decoy is also the job. Rotate pivots every 90s. CP: (1) Move on the presser's blind side — off the shoulder, not toward the ball; (2) arrive in the window as the CB's head rises, not before (early = re-shadowed); (3) locked? Drag him wider and shout the third-man — the decoy pass counts. Prog: Two pressers (real double-pivot problems); targets marked too (full picture); one-touch bounces only. Reg: Passive presser; playground grows. Mist: P: standing in the shadow begging (visibility is footwork, not volume); C: only rewarding receptions — decoy reps ARE pivot play. Time: 15 min. Out: Window-timing sharpens; the drag-and-release read appears. Var: GK replaces one server (build-out realism, D-11 bridge). Diag: Square with CBs below, targets above, pivot + shadowing presser center, window arrows either side of the presser, decoy drag arrow.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
