Weight-of-Pass Lab

Passing, Receiving & Rondos · U10–U14

Obj: Pass weight as a decision: firm-to-feet vs. led-into-space, and the receiver's context that chooses. Field: 20×20yd; three lab stations. Equip: Cones, balls, bibs. Org: Station 1 "to feet": marked receiver (passive marker behind) — pass must arrive firm, hip-height max, to the safe-side foot. Station 2 "to space": receiver starts his run as the passer's head drops — ball led so they meet in stride at a gate. Station 3 "the choice": receiver alternates staying/running without warning — passer reads and weights accordingly; wrong weight = receiver stops the rep and says what they needed (the language loop). CP: (1) Marked teammate = firm to feet, safe side; running teammate = soft into the path; (2) read the receiver's first two steps, not their voice; (3) weight errors: too soft invites the interception, too hard kills the next action — name which happened. Prog: Live markers; distances grow; weak-foot lab. Reg: Receiver calls "feet!"/"space!" aloud. Mist: P: one default weight for everything; C: coaching accuracy while ignoring weight — accuracy with wrong weight still fails the teammate. Time: 14 min. Out: Weight vocabulary in players' mouths; station 3 read-success climbing. Var: GK distribution lab (I-09 pairing). Diag: Three stations: marker-behind receiver, running receiver meeting ball at gate, decision receiver with two arrow options.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
