The Labyrinth

Ball Mastery & 1v1 · U10–U13

Obj: Dribble-route decision-mapping — plan a path, adapt it live, remember what worked (spatial memory + touch control). Field: 25×25yd dense cone maze: gates, dead-ends, one-way arrows chalked/coned. Equip: ~40 cones, ball each, timer. Org: Players study the maze 30s (no ball), then run it: enter one side, exit the other, threading legal gates only. Round 1 explore (untimed); round 2 timed; round 3 the coach silently closes two gates and opens one — plans must adapt mid-run. CP: (1) Plan two gates ahead, always; (2) tight-touch through gates, push-touch between them; (3) when the plan dies, scan before the next touch — never dribble blind into a dead end. Prog: Two players in the maze opposite directions (traffic); chase version with a 3s-delayed hunter. Reg: Simpler maze, guided walk-through. Mist: P: memorizing without scanning (round 3 exposes them — by design); C: mazes too easy (no dead ends = no decisions). Time: 14 min. Out: Route-planning verbalized ("I saw the left gate close so I…"); touch control in tight geometry. Var: Partner calls the route from outside (communication version); maze-design rotation — players build next week's labyrinth. Diag: Grid maze of cone gates with arrows, one dashed successful route, one X-marked dead-end.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
