The Gauntlet

Ball Mastery & 1v1 · U10–U14

Obj: Consecutive 1v1s against fresh defenders — composure and repertoire under fatigue. Field: 3 sequential 12×10yd zones in a 36×10yd channel; pug goal at the end. Equip: Cones, goals, balls, bibs. Org: One attacker runs the gauntlet: beats defender 1 (locked to zone 1), then defender 2, then defender 3, then finishes. Defenders can't leave their zones. Score = zones cleared (finish = 4). Attackers queue; defenders rotate to attack after 4 reps. CP: (1) New zone, fresh scan — each defender has a different stance; (2) change the move — the same trick rarely beats three players; (3) breathe between zones: composure is a skill, entering slow-then-burst beats sprinting blind. Prog: Defenders may retreat-defend (delay) making time the attacker's enemy; two-attacker version with a support option in zone 2. Reg: Two zones; passive third defender. Mist: P: emptying the tank in zone 1; C: queues too long — run two gauntlets side by side. Time: 15 min. Out: Repertoire breadth exposed and stretched; defenders get zone-defending reps (angles in tight space). Var: Weak-foot gauntlet; timed gauntlet leaderboard (U13+). Diag: Long channel split into three zones, defender in each, attacker's weaving arrow, goal at the end.

The 3-point rule: pick your three coaching points before the session and be ready to answer for them (Manual 5.4).
